The off beat photo-based comic Alien Loves predator has reached it’s first anniversary of updating to the web. Bernie Hou’s comic depicts the movie characters “Alien” and “Predator” as roommates living in a Manhattan apartment together. With it’s clever use of action figure posing and photo manipulation ALP has been witty, fresh, and funny for a year now. To celebrate Bernie is announcing a new contest.

Digital Strips Comic Update, Life is Better With Zoinks
Today’s comic is about the benefits of Zoinks Magazine. I actually used this joke during the interview we did with Bill Charbonneau, the editor of the webcomics newspaper, and now that I have the actual newspaper in my hands I still think it’s funny.

Girlamatic Announces New Editor, New Comics Line Up
The popular female oriented web comic collective GirlAMatic is going through a rebirth. They have recently announced a new line-up of comics and a new editor is taking the lead. As of October 1st Lisa R. Jont? is taking the reigns.
Here is a quote from the press release from Lisa: “After two and half years, Lea Hernandez, the originator, Founding Editor and driving force behind GirlAMatic has decided to step down. It?s been a long and successful run, but it seems she felt it was time to shake things up and, at the same time, find more time to actually make comics herself. I would not deny her”

He has put himself up for auction to create a custom 24 Hour Comic about anything the winner of the auction wants … and all original artwork … and the legal rights to co-publish the work.

Scooter and Ferret Update
Amongst the web comic picks on our most recent show was the excellent comic Scooter and Ferret. Since posting the show we’ve had a nice exchange with Georgia Ball, half of the team responsible for the comic and we have come to find out that there were a few inaccuracies in our original discussion on the show.
We had mentioned that Scooter and Ferret was a relative newcomer to the web comic scene with only 3 months worth of comics in their archive. Continue reading

Digital Strips the Comic Update
Today’s comic is a little reflection on the differences of opinion that goes on around here at Digital Strips. It is also my clever attempt to tie in the random strip I posted in the last second during the last comic update. I’m showing two versions, the color and black and white versions. I’ve been playing around with coloring the strips recently and I am still not sure which I prefer. Let me know which one you think is best. Continue reading
Digital Strips Charity Auction Reminder
Just a reminder that the Digital Strips charity auction is still going on for another day on eBay. We are auctioning off the original artwork I did for the Web Comic Telethon and all proceeds go to hurricane relief efforts. Also, the winner will be getting a free CD with all our shows so far on it. All proceeds go right to the Red Cross, so please bid generously.
Digital Strips Comic Moving to Thursdays
I’ve decided to move the Digital Strips comic updates to Thursdays instead of updating them with the show posts. I’ve found myself working on both the show and the comic on weekends, but I should really concentrate on one of them at a time. This will space out the main updates for the site anyway. So, until this Thursday here is a totally random and meaningless comic to tide you over.
