Keenspot ~PICKS UP~ Templar, AZ

Looking around, I see that nearly every other blog out there… ok, I see that every other blog out there tends to post things wholly and without making a whole list out of them. And you know what? Those are the sites I read and quite enjoy reading! Nothing better than scrolling down (God bless you, mouse wheel!) and bypassing all the stuff I just don’t care about.Templar, AZ panel

Now, I’m sure nothing I’ve written falls into the category, but should it happen to anyone else, I would highly suggest adopting this post style. I’ll be trying it out and the first item to receive this bump is about one of the best black-and-white strips on the ‘Nets today!

Templar, AZ, the fun, fantasy-filled romp brought to us by Spike, is now sporting a new black header, courtesy of Keenspot. Seeing as how the latest KS acquisitions have been chums of mine, I’m not sure what I think of this recent snapping up of the talent. I am sure, however, that I congratulate Spike on the expansion! Work like hers is mega-worthy of more exposure and this move should help to do just that.

Speaking of exposure, Larry “El Santo” Cruz has posted his review of Templar over on ComixTalk (… *sigh*) so see what he thought of the sometimes NSFW strip and then stop by to do the same yourself!

The Following is a Pre-Follow-Up-Sitdown-Primer ~ON~ Sin Titulo

Webcomic collectives are great for increasing your exposure and networking, but they sure can feature some darned complex web addresses. Our recent reviewee, Sin Titulo, was just one strip that suffered from this malady. And on a podcast where you try to keep it around twenty minutes every time out, taking five right off the bat to rattle off the strip’s address is downright maddening.

But fear not, mystery lovers! Creator Cameron Stewart has switched the strip over to a much simpler URL! Sin Titulo can now be found at the aptly lettered:

www.sintitulocomic.com

And that’s your follow-up primer! Stay tuned for a sitdown conversation with Cameron, in which I promise you I will get answers to this intriguing mystery…

The Art of Calling Something an Art

Prolific Web cartoonist and general nice guy Wes Molbash has been invited to be half of an exhibit at the Pump House Center for the Arts in Chillicothe Ohio called the Art of Cartooning. Any sort of publicity like this is awesome and I for one am proud of Molbash. The exhibit will be running from July 17th and run through August 25th and any one in the Ohio area should head out and support one of our own. You can get all the info and check out an invitation designed by Molbash over at You’ll have That.

The Kid’s Book Project Update ~OR~ For People Who DON’T Hate Children

As a contributor and public shill, it is my duty, and privilege, to remind you that The Kid’s Book Project, spearheaded by Michael Rouse-Deane of Webcomics In Print fame, is underway and nearing the halfway mark of completion!

Pre-orders are already being taken on this 60-page tale of adventure, whimsy, and more adventure! Really, I can’t tell you what it’s going to be about as I’ve only seen two pages of the book thus far, the one that came after mine and the page I created.

It’s All For The Kids ~OR~ Failing To Grow Up

The typical view of webcomics, by those that even know what they are, is of a story-telling style geared mostly towards the 18-34 year-old demographic. Look at some of our best examples and you’d be hard-pressed to argue. But there is actually a fair number of all-ages fare out there, you just have to know where to look. And with those kid-friendly works come kid-friendly projects, geared towards the young tykes and older folks alike. For us in the latter category, the question is a combination of “How much did you really grow up?” and “How much do you want to support webcomics?”

PC Magazine Rates 10 Best Webcomics ~OR~ Say Wha–?

It’s finally here, folks! The long-awaited 10 Best Webcomics list is finally here from the biggest, bestest webcomics authority on God’s green Earth, PC Magazine!

Ok, so PC Magazine isn’t the first publication you’d think of when it comes to our hard-to-define medium. Hell, it isn’t even ninety-first. But it is a big publication and if they list their favorites, why shouldn’t we tear these picks to shreds and call out those know-it-alls for their horribly adjusted misconception of the place many of us call home?

NOW We’re A Webcomic ~OR~ Tonight! We Blog! In HELL!

When every other webcomic out there does a riff on 300, you can’t help but join in.

Yes, the typical, four-panel layout got away from me a bit on this one. And no, this kind of stuff doesn’t actually go on behind-the-scenes. But I’d like to think that if we all worked together under one roof, it might.

And yes, I would totally paint muscles on myself.
