It’s All For The Kids ~OR~ Failing To Grow Up

The typical view of webcomics, by those that even know what they are, is of a story-telling style geared mostly towards the 18-34 year-old demographic. Look at some of our best examples and you’d be hard-pressed to argue. But there is actually a fair number of all-ages fare out there, you just have to know where to look. And with those kid-friendly works come kid-friendly projects, geared towards the young tykes and older folks alike. For us in the latter category, the question is a combination of “How much did you really grow up?” and “How much do you want to support webcomics?”

Schlock Mercenary coloring book

If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then your first duty is to pick up Howard Tayler’s Schlock Mercenary Presents… The Strohl Munitions Plasma Cannon Safety Coloring Book. Packed with 23 pages of coloring outside the lines goodness (take that, Mom!) and activities galore, the book is also a short story about Schlock and the dos and don’ts of playing with a plasma cannon (here’s a hint: DON’T).

While the story aspects take over a bit too much and provide several uncolored pages that are very similar, the story that is told is amusing and the activities that are present are sure to keep minds both young and old alike busy to a rainy afternoon. Here’s the official word from the Schlock website:

The book is 22 pages long, and is quite silly. Aside from the simple, seditious, non-canonical story, it includes a maze, a matching game, and a word-search suitable for grown-ups with twisted minds. All pages are 8.5″ x 11″ at 600dpi resolution — these lines are crisp, baby. And they can be yours for a Paypal donation of any size.

That’s right, even a donation of one cent will get you this PDF file, so go now (click the image above for the official link) and get yours today! Also, donations of one cent are completely against the kid’s theme here and will most likely net you a nice, warm spot in Hell. Just something to keep in mind…
