No Name, Just a Voice

I come to you all, a man with no name. At least, as I write this, I have no name. The gods Zampzon and Daku may see fit to grant me one before this makes it’s way magically from my laptop to the Internet. As I see nothing myself, however, I shall simply start with an introduction to what I hope to contribute to the team.

Webcomics are such a different beast than anything else we’ve ever seen in the artistic world. They take every medium you could possibly think of and throw them all into the same pot, just waiting to be stirred up and served. And yet somehow, each bite tastes different. Continue reading

Head Injury Theatre Roasts Digital Strips

We received word today that Jared over at Head Injury Theatre has made a little comic about your favorite webcomic podcast hosts and we thought our readers would get a kick out of it as well. You can see it here. Head Injury Theatre has a lot of very funny, and kinda twisted, comics and Jared’s style is original and really interesting. I love the way he drew Daku.

You may recognize Jared’s work from the cover of the Webcomic Hurricane Relief Telethon Book. Continue reading

Scooter and Ferret Update

Amongst the web comic picks on our most recent show was the excellent comic Scooter and Ferret. Since posting the show we’ve had a nice exchange with Georgia Ball, half of the team responsible for the comic and we have come to find out that there were a few inaccuracies in our original discussion on the show.

We had mentioned that Scooter and Ferret was a relative newcomer to the web comic scene with only 3 months worth of comics in their archive. Continue reading

Digital Strips Original Comic Art Auction for Charity

During the recent Webcomic Telethon for hurricane relief I submitted a comic strip to be a part of the event and to help out. You can view it on the telethon site by clicking here. I was proud to take part in such an important effort and such a big event in web comics.

Now, I’m taking it one step further and putting the original artwork for that comic up for auction on eBay. You can find the auction on the other side of this link. Continue reading

The Outer Circle Pokes Fun at Digital Strips. Daku, They’re Onto Us!

The cartoonist behind The Outer Circle, Steve Napierski, has included a little dig at us in his latest comic. It’s a funny strip that we’ve reviewed before and his blog does a good job at posting web comic news as well, so if you haven’t been reading this one you’ve been missing out. Go have a look.

As for the accusation, I swear Daku’s green card is in the mail. Honest.

Free Audio Ads on the Digital Strips Podcast, Promote Your Comic

As we’ve discussed before on the site and on the show Daku and I have been thinking about adding audio ads to the Digital Strips podcast. After announcing the idea and asking people to let us know if they’d be interested in such a thing we got a lot of positive feedback about adding web comic audio ads. Several of you want to take part.

However, audio ads are a controversial topic within podcasting circles. Many think this sort of thing detracts from Continue reading

No Otakon For Me

Well, it looks like my plans for attending Otakon this weekend have been dashed. They removed the online registration before I had a chance to register and now they say they will probably sell out some time Friday, a day before I was to arrive. Curses.

There will be other cons I suppose. And next time I’ll remember to register earlier.

Call to Arms

For those who have been with us from the beginning you may have noticed that our 29th podcast marked 6 months of the Digital Strips podcast. We had no idea that this hobby of ours would get to where it is now this fast. Who would want to listen to our opinions on a medium which is notorious for being fickle? The loyalty of you, our listeners, has been inspirational and we would like to keep the momentum going.

How can you help us? There are a handful of podcast directories which allow ratings. Continue reading
