Digital Strips is Critiqued By Cortland

The biggest problem with having so many web comics bookmarked is sometimes it takes weeks to get back to a strip you enjoy. Cortland is an excellent example of this as it was about two months ago I read it and so missed this gem.

Not being able to see the web comics we are reviewing is easily the biggest complaint we get, not to mention how hard it is to convince people to listen to a show with people talking about looking at something.

Digital Strips is Looking For Advertisers

We have decided to begin accepting advertisements for the DigitalStrips.com web site. You can find all the details, including pricing on our Advertise page. The plans include the top banner ad and two spaces in our right sidebar. We’re adopting a flat fee pricing model and I think we’ve priced the ads in such a way that all levels of web comics can afford to place an ad on our site.

We’re looking primarily for web comics to purchase the space or comic related merchandise or services. Continue reading

Digital Strips Guest Appearance on Extra Life Radio

This week’s show features a review of the online comic Extra Life by Scott Johnson. After being informed of the review Scott invited us to be on his own podcast, Extra Life Radio. So, last night we logged into Skype and chatted about starting Digital Strips and web comics in general. You can download the interview by clicking right here.

After doing so many interviews in which we were the ones asking the questions it was a little weird being the question receiver. Continue reading

Announcing the Digital Strips Forum

We now have an online forum. The fine folks over at Transplant Comics have been good enough to provide us with some online space to host a forum for fans and listeners of the Digital Strips podcast. There’s now a place for everyone to go and post about our episodes or web comics in general.

Transplant Comics is a web comic community, offering easy hosting options to everyone looking to start a web comic. They have an active Bulletin Board, full of web comic fans and creators. We would really like to thank the guys of Transplant Comics for adding space there for Digital Strips. I hope people find it a fun place. Enjoy.

Emergency Request to our Fans

I have a very selfish request to all our readers and listeners who may be attending the San Diego Comic Con. If you are planning on attending I’d like someone to go and get a signed sketch from Scott Kurtz of PVP Online of Brent or Francis listening to Digital Strips or something like that. The first person to respond saying they’ll go get this for me will be rewarded with some of the swag we have on hand from various web comic artists and a mention on our show. If Scott charges for the sketch I’ll reimburse you for that and the cost of shipping as well. I hope someone can do this for me since I won’t be able to attend while I’m at ConnectiCon. Thanks!

RSS Feed Fixed

We were having some trouble with the Digital Strips RSS podcast feed all day today and I finally found the issue. Turns out the “e” in Sebastien’s name was disrupting some of the RSS feed applications out there. It has been fixed and all should be well now. Thanks!

Guest hosts T Campbell and Dave Belmore

We promised everyone we would be experimenting with different formats and this summer will be packed full of them. Last week’s interview with Kristofer Straub and David Willis was a huge success and is only the first in a string of podcasts with our listeners in mind.

Our next two podcasts will feature guest hosts who will not only give their opinions on what we review but also choose comics on their own for us to take a look at. This should give us access to strips the two us might not come across. Our first guest hosts will be T Campbell of Penny & Aggie and Dave Belmore, owner of Ironhorse Comics and co-author of Didymous. T and Dave run a great podcast, called Meanwhile, which focuses more on the comic industry as a whole.

Contest Entries on Display

The effort to get the site finished is continuing. Today I completed the pages of the contest entries in our gallery section. As most of you know we held a contest a little while ago in which we asked participants to come up with a comic that involved either us or our show. You can now go and check out all the entries we received for the contest in one easy to find place. The winner is listed first and all the other entries appear in the order we received them (this seemed like the most diplomatic way to do it). So, check them out and enjoy. Continue reading
