Digital Strips 158 – Zuda Watch March 2009

It’s just Jason and me for this episode, but it’s a whole new Jason. Tune in to listen to the fightyest (that’s my new word, let’s make it happen) episode of Digital Strips in a coon’s age.

Hopefully our fighting with each other will encourage you to fight too. Post you opinions in the blog, send us audio comments, tweet us. We can’t escape you, just as Zuda competitors can’t escape our steely, critical gaze.

Digital Strips 157 – Zuda Watch Feb 2009

Another month has come and gone and with it 10 more comics have come to compete for your love and approval. Go check them out quick before your opinion won’t matter anymore.

Listen in and let us know who you agree with (me) and who is full of it (Jason).

edit– made some changes to the sound file, it should be fine unless you can only hear the left ear track, then you’ll hear nothing. If there are any audacity experts out there I have questions.

Digital Strips 156 – Review Pigtails and Potbellies

Digital Strips 156 Pigtails and Potbellies

I had a pet pig when I was in high school and my wife looks great in pigtails so I might have a little bit of bias towards today’s strip. Pigtails and Potbellies has a classic Wattersonian feel to it that I really dug on. Tune in to see if Jason agreed and give the comic a look so and let us know what you think.

I also love bacon, but I don’t think that had any baring on my opinion, maybe it did, who knows.

Digital Strips 155 – Review: The Order of Tales

Digital Strips 155

We’re without Brigid this time but what could have easily devolved into a pit of naming calling a fart noises turned out instead to be a total love fest. Not towards each other mind you, that would be gross. Rather instead we focus out affection on Evan Dahm’s amazing web comic Order of Tales.

This is the first time – as far as I know – that we’ve hit a second strip by the same creator, but Dahm deserves all the love we can shower on him. Listen to Episode 127 to find out more.

As a comparison we also talk a bit about another strip from the past, Lackadaisy.

Also as a side note, it took me so long to edit this show that there’s actually 211 pages now, not 204. And I one point in the show I say Lackadaisy is part of Koala Wallop, which it is not. I was thinking of Dresden Codak, which is. My bad.

Digital Strips 154 – Zuda Watch Jan 09

This is probably the most philosophical Digital Strips episode ever. Along with the typical Zuda back and forth, we also delve into the deeper reasoning behind why the average American is so intrigued by dystopia futures and what the real reasons behind internet popularity.

It’s a show for the ages, that’s for sure. Tune in and learn a butt-ton.

Digital Strips 152 – Horizons Watch Dec 2008

This Episode was a lot of fun to make and prepare for, because all the comics were so darn good. Join us as we argue about holiday greetings, discuss a great way for some aspiring inventor to make it big and then get into the meat of it all as we take about three of the most fun to read comics we’ve come across this year.

This Month’s Horizons Watch picks were:
Ghost Pimp by Maurice Fontenot

Kittyhawk by Braden Lamb and Vincent Labate

M.I.M.E.S. by Wayne Cordova and Harold Jennett

Digital Strips 151 – Zuda Watch Dec 2008

Feeling fiesty this time around and I’m taking it out on you the listener. Well not you personally, I like you, a lot actually, I really think we should hang out more.

Anyway, it was a good solid month for the folks over a Zuda, full of some hits, some near misses and a few would be hits, if we were a different group of reviewers.

We’ve had some requests to break the show into tracks, but I can’t seem to find a way to do it in audacity, if any one knows a good link, shoot it my way.

Digital Strips 149 – Web Comics Idol Watch

Digital Strips 149

There’s just something about Web comics competitions with ten contestants that we just can’t seem to resist. Instead of Zuda Watch this time though, we turn our eyes to those trying to be the Web Comic Idol 2008 winner. We recorded this show on Sunday which was before the first cuts were made and some of the strips we loved are already gone. We can’t help but feel a little bit responsible. Don’t let more good strips die, listen in and find out what we thing should take the crown for this year.
