Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t updated the Digital Strips comic in a while. The thing is I’ve been working on something new. I was so inspired by what Scott Kurtz and Chris Straub are doing with Blamimation that I decided to try something similar for our podcast. Wouldn’t it be great to see what we’re talking about as we talk about it? I’m still putting it together, but I should have something to show very soon. We’ll see if this works or not soon enough, but hang tight. At the very least, it should be interesting.

The Guy That Sold Hogan’s Heroes
Here’s yet another Digital Strips comic. Huzzah! This strip poses a question I’ve often wondered myself, just how in the hell did that show get pitched? I mean, really, think about it. You have a room full of TV execs listening to this idea and then look around at each other and decide it’s a good idea? Would this fly today? Bernie Fein was the guy that created the sitcom and he must have been one silver tongued guy to pull that off. Oh well. Enjoy.

Zampzon’s Plot
This week’s comic continues a little story-line I’m toying with. I’m pretty happy with how that first panel background came out. It may have been a joke, but don’t think I haven’t thought about organizing an official worshiper’s group to follow Beaver and Steve.

Welton Colbert Vs. Digital Strips
I recently had the honor to collaborate on a comic project with Ryan Estrada, a cartoonist whose work I admire very much. We did a joint comic for this month’s edition of Comixpedia and you can check it out here.
As many of you know, Welton is Ryan’s retired cartoonist character and all around old coot when it comes to webcomics. For this strip, I wrote the Zampzon and Daku dialog and Ryan wrote Welton’s responses. Then he drew the Digital Strips panels and I drew the Welton panels. Continue reading
People Are Looking At Us
When we first started Digital Strips we decided that we were going to hold off telling anyone about the site or our show for a while, until we had a few episodes under our belt. The plan was to get like a month’s worth of content online and then start trying to get the word out about what we were up too. That plan fell through within days of posting our first show when we started seeing traffic coming into our site. It’s weird how the internet works, if it’s out there someone, somewhere, somehow will find it. Amazing.
Getting in Touch With Welton Colbert
This week’s comic includes an appearance by Welton Colbert, a character created by Ryan Estrada. The clueless retired cartoonist and your favorite podcast hosts will meet up soon in a new collaboration project. I’ll post more about that when it comes together.

Webcomic Halloween Party
This week’s comic is the same strip that can currently be found in the October issue of Zoinks Magazine. It was a Halloween theme, so I thought it was an appropriate time to post it here too. The printed version had to be in black and white, but I colored it for posting here.

Eric Burns Reveals All, More About Websnark Then You Probably Wanted to Know
Today’s Digital Strips comic refers to the prolific writer and webcomic commentator Eric Burns. He’s best known for his cartoon critique blog Websnark, but he has his hands in many a webcomic pot. He writes the very cool comic Gossamer Commons, he writes for the Webcomics Examiner, and he has a recurring column on Comixpedia entitled ‘Feeding Snarky‘. The specific joke here refers to the column Eric wrote back in August. It was a really interesting read, but at the same time it sort of took me by surprise. Continue reading
Manga Bickering
The debate rages on. Today’s comic features a conversation we’ve had several times on the podcast, but it was high time to lay it right out on the table here in the comic. You may be asking yourself, “Self, why are Daku and Zampzon hunting out in the marshlands?” Well, I wrote the dialog as you see it in the comic and if I just followed that it would be pretty boring just having the talking heads like usual. So, I threw in the hunting scene just to spice it up visually. Safety orange usually equals funny. Continue reading
Digital Strips Comic Update, Life is Better With Zoinks
Today’s comic is about the benefits of Zoinks Magazine. I actually used this joke during the interview we did with Bill Charbonneau, the editor of the webcomics newspaper, and now that I have the actual newspaper in my hands I still think it’s funny.
