We are proud to present to you our 100th episode of Digital Strips. We’re very proud to have been with you for this long and we can only be surprised why you stuck around. Netcomics: Freebies from Korea

A zany comedy, a tender love story, and a cynical anti-romance enacted by cats—these three comics are Netcomics' way of ushering you into the wonderful world of manwha, or Korean comics.

Netcomics caused quite a stir last January by making its North American debut with ten new titles. While that may seem ambitious, what really got people talking was their business model: They make one chapter a week available on the web for a low price, currently 25 cents per chapter.

Interest Piquers Mini-Slam ~OR~ Hero By Night #1 In Previews

Greetings, webcomic lovers! It’s your ol’ pal Midnight, reporting for the first time ever from the land of the married folk! The honeymoon is over, the Mrs. and I are gladly celebrating the holidays together and it seems there are some good feelings to pass along in the world of webcomics as well.

Through the magic of e-mail newsletters, the announcement of issue #1 of DJ Coffman’s eagerly-anticipated Hero By Night has been heard ’round the Internets! And not only will the first issue of this classic superhero tale be available very soon, but the comic book ordering service, Previews, has seen fit to feature the webcomicky goodness with a full-page spread!

To make this awesome opportunity a success for DJ, find your local, Previews-enabled comic shop via the Comic Book Shop Locator Service and tell them to carry Hero By Night, or else the terrorists win. People will do ANYTHING when you tell them the consequence is more terrorism.

    Atlanta Webtoonist Meet-up

This is something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time now. Ever since the DC one started up I was frustrated by just how far away DC is from Atlanta. Well I’ve decided to do something about it. If you are interested in joining me in a monthly (or bi-monthly depending on the interest) meeting in Atlanta then leave a comment with your strip and where you are coming from. You can also send an email to me but the more interest people see the larger the crowd.

    Web Comic Wrap Up

I was trying to come up with a different title for these posts but the variety sent to us has been all over the place. Everything from reaching an astronomical number of updates, to merchandise, to getting slashdotted.

Goats – I know I’m way behind on this but any milestone as big as reaching 2000 strips deserves acknowledgement. On Nov 27 Jon posted this strip that makes a little more since then most of the strips in the real story. Congrats Jon and we all hope that last panel will some day be more then an hallucination.

    Niego Strikes Back

In a strange turn of events, I'm not reporting the demise of a Web comic, rather the rebirth. I'm not sure how to feel about this, I feel so out of place.

Anyway one year and a very small about of change after we reported it was leaving the World Wide Web, Niego is back. Jason Sigala will be bringing his strip back on a Mondays-only update schedule. He also stated that for personal reasons he won't be returning to his old Web comic collective, BoxCar Comics.

Beyond that there's not much information on Sigala's site, but it should be more than enough for Niego fans.

DS 98: Interview With Scott McCloud

    Digital Strips : Show 98
    [18.3 MB]
Phil here. Back from my brief break to bring you a fresh interview with Scott McCloud. He was in my area for a couple of days, so I made it a point to catch his lecture and subsequently interview him. If you get a chance to see one of his lectures, I’d highly recommend it.

Anyway, enjoy the interview. We’ll have a review show for you quite soon.

    In this episode:

    Wiki Tyrants or Misguided Fools?

Not to be the last one to talk about it but it’s hard not to say something about a struggle that has been going on for the past 14 months. When I first caught wind of this with the deletion of Outer Circle I was a little surprised at just how many web comics were being marked for deletion. Perhaps the biggest honor was Steve using his being reviewed by our little podcast as one of the reasons the strip was notable enough not to be deleted. The topic was annoying but interesting enough that I felt compelled to participate as a victim myself.
