DS Comic Update. Yes, It’s Another one

Excuse me, yes, is that a bandwagon? Have room for one more do you? Great, I’ll just hop right on …

Ok, I sketched this out a couple days ago after seeing one of those commercials for the 40th time. I thought they were clever the first couple times, but enough already. Seriously.

Then I noticed that this was a popular parody target amongst real cartoonists who are far better than I as was mentioned before. Oh well. I figured I would finish mine off real quick and post it now rather than waiting until next week when it would be a tired joke.

Sorry Pookey, just add this one to the pile. By the way, you forgot to mention this one from DJ, this one from Today: The Comic and this one from PC Weenies.

A Word… On Similar Inspiration

Have you seen those commercials about the Mac using the PC operating systems? I have. I don’t like them. In these commercials we see the Digital Diablo holding hands with an upstanding PC. On top of this blasphemy, the Malicious Mac informs the audience that he is still superior to PC. LIES!!! That has never before been true nor is it true now. I prayed to the comic gods that one of my favorite satirists would draw a comic on this travesty against all righteous and good PC users. The comic gods responded in a way that reminds me, they have a sense of humor.

Balticon Or Bust

I know I’ve been pretty negative in the articles I’ve written recently, and I probably hated it more than most of you. Well, rest assured that those days are over with, and they aren’t coming back. Instead, I thought I’d give you guys a bit of a heads up about something I’m doing that I found interesting. Not interesting because I’m doing it, but because it sort of breaks the norm. As far as I’ve seen anyway, I could be wrong. If so, someone with a lot more experience is bound to correct me. Which is fine, I’m still a bit green when it comes to matters of the webcomic “industry”.

Who Says You Can’t Be A Winner?

If there’s one thing I like about digital media it’s how easy it is to have a contest. Here’s three that have popped up on my radar.

Please Rewind – The re-launch of Please Rewind coincides with several new promotions of which being on the cover of Zoinks! is the just the icing on the cake. Chris Cantrell is also having a contest where the winner gets a $50 gift certificate to Blockbuster and $50 for Fandango. That’s like 2 whole movies! Submit your guest strip to win.

Will Eisner Documentary in Production Now

I recently discovered that a new documentary is being made about Will Eisner and deservedly so. No matter where or how you read your comics, in books, in a newspaper or on the web, Eisner’s influence can be felt. He’s widely considered the “Father” of comics and pioneered the concept of the graphic novel and coined the phrase “sequential art”. I can’t wait to check out this film.

    Save the internet!

Why isn’t anyone talking about savetheinternet.com?

Freedom of speech and open e-market are being directly threatened by the senate and the house right now. The Network Neutrality Act ensures that there is no corporate regulation to internet access in the manner that they mean to install. There is a bill being voted on that will dissolve the act, allowing the communication corporations to buy up the control of access and install a Tier System. Continue reading

A Word… On Video Game Comics

    Infectious.

    That’s the word.

These freaking things are everywhere. The poke their heads into our communities and in most cases rule them. Almost every game comic I run into on the quest for new comics is the same insipid crap with equally insipid titles. It’s always something dumb like “Press Start to Play” or “The Game Corner”. The main characters include a male duo of quasi-trendy geeks, a robot of some kind, and a random hot girl that either is or becomes the girlfriend of one of the geeks.
