Digital Strips : The Beginning – part 3

The continuing story of how Daku and Zampzon created Digital Strips continues in today’s epic tale. Well, sort of. I have started collecting the DS comics in the gallery section of our site, so if you’ve missed the previous ones you can find them there. Soon I’ll set up a regular web comic system with the usual “next”, “back”, “first”, “latest” links.

VG Cats Gets Into Flame War With Anti Video Game Crusader

The recent debates over an ESRB rating change for the video game Grand Theft Auto 3 has taken many forms over the past couple of weeks. Blame and attacks in public forums have raged against the ESRB, video game retailers, Rockstar Games, gamers in general, etc.

Jin Wicked Jabs at Web Comics Community

Younger Syndicated Cartoonists and New Attitudes Toward Internet

Getting a new comic strip added to any newspaper’s comics pages is becoming a Herculean effort. Dwindling newspaper readership causes belt tightening for editors and is leaving little space for new blood in the cartoonist pool.

Sean Howards’s Squidi.net Shuts It’s Virtual Doors

One of the most prolific creators of pixel art web comics is Sean Howard. His online comics, A Modest Destiny and the more recent The Starship Destiny, look very much like 16 bit game graphics, screen shots from a GameBoy game. However, all the artwork is original and the look and feel are only meant to capture the feel of those time gone by graphics.

A Modest Destiny began in 2003 and for almost three years Sean has shown everyone just how far pixel based art can go. Continue reading
