Digital Strips 204 – Review: Robot Beach

We always talk about how much we love it when a strip has a URL that matches the title perfectly. While this week’s comic Robot Beach (found at www.robotbeach.com/) certainly has that going for it, the title (and there for the URL) also sum up the topic of the comic as well, eliminating multiple birds with the single stone that is a well chosen URL.

This is an interesting show. It’s one of those times where something is bother one of us and that one of us doesn’t really know what it is until the other one of us makes us define the actual problem. Translation: We fight and fight and fight and fight and fight, but in the end we get down to the actual nagging issue which opens up the nature of comics for both of us and our understanding increases.

That’s just fancy talk saying that you really should check this one out. Not only in Robot Beach and fun comic worthy of your attention, but Jason and I both grow as people, (more me as I’m more of a person) which is a rare enough event to warrant a half hour and change of your time.

Zuda Comics Is No More, Some Titles To Continue In Digital Format ~A~ Tweet Thread of the Day Extra

The winds of change have been blowing in Zuda’s direction ever since the competition site decided to drop the competing clause and just become a home for digital creators. Then, DC Comics announced a digital initiative that would see their comics appear on the PSP, PSN, iPhone, iTouch, and iPad. This change seems to have whipped up a hurricane that has decimated the ZudaComics.com domain itself, which will now be shuttered.

It’s still unclear as to which comics will survive this swath of destruction, though you can bet the award winners will make the move. One comic that won’t be migrating to greener (alternate?) pastures is Brock Heasley’s Monsterplex, the winner of the February competition. The following thread explains loosely why, including the heart-breaking reaction to the news straight from someone directly affected by the culling:

To welcome me back from my mini summer vacation (the first of many!), we have a delicious trifecta of tweets to start off the middle of the week. First up, my favorite embittered heroine, Wonderella, states her position on the whole Wonder Woman redesign kerfuffle that kicked off the week:

First, he gives a shout out to the fellas that ran the Mario Marathon over this past weekend, a noble effort to play as many Mario games in a short period of time, all for the purpose of raising money for PA’s Child’s Play charity. Judging from this tweet, it looks like they did a pretty good job:
