I don't have a lot to say about it but this is the coolest thing I think I've seen come out of Web comics in at least a good month or so. Of course, I'm an aspiring writer and huge fan of Dinosaur Comics so Ryan North pretty much had me from 'Hello.'
Basically, it's a writing contest. Well not so much a contest as it is a call for writers to submit pieces for compellation North, David Malki of Wondermark and Matthew Bennardo are putting together. If you're story is selected to go in the book (which is kinda like winning) you'll get paid (which is an awful lot like winning).
All stories are to be about the concept of a machine that can predict a person's death as shown in this comic by North. The full rules of the contest can be found here toward the bottom of the page.
I've said it before but this is what I love most about Web comics. Creators reaching out to their readership and getting them involved and not in a self-centered win-a-chance-to-be-graced-with-my-presence way, which is stupid (I think we all know who I'm talking about). I give hearty kudos to North and crew and wish them the best in this endeavor.
